Day 6: 13 views of Sacramento (in Senryu)

Pain in the city
Minds are numb by so much pain
But, we want some more

In charge of the state
But this city is a mess
The mayor will fix it

do you have some change?
They act like they don’t see me
Still they go around

State Worker:
have to get to work
Only here for ten hours
Hmm, happy hour

love WiFi WiFi.
We can be out & online
This town has it all

Out of towner:
why was I sent here?
Meetings, hotel, food, drinks, bored
Nothing to do here

Uber Driver:
so where are they at
These one way streets confuse me
Why you over there?

Bus Driver:
these loud passengers
Woah, these cars better watch out
Through the city again

Just got elected
The problems in this city
What do we do first

Move on, homeless guy
Raise prices to deal with fees
What event will pay

hope these cars sees me
Never deal with this traffic
Making good timing

This is my New York
Hear the city’s sweet rhythm
Just play my music

Open the window
The pictures are all right there
What action is art?

The views of Sacramento are so obscure. So I put the views in Senryu(haiku with emotions). The city life is fast pace but I understand the point of the rush.

Day 3 – Elegy to My 20s

My 20s
I miss you so
I miss the long night of having fun
And the short cash to pay dues.

No children to be responsible for
But put away childish things
Because they call me an adult.

To Overindulge on all vices as a pick me up
But loss friends because they couldn’t give it up

Crying like a baby for losing family
And reevaluate places I go for safety

Understanding that love and relationships work different.
By losing people personally and in business.

Graduating with degrees and military accomplishments.
But realizing that I am glad that I survive all of it.

Rest in peace

Day 2 – Tuna Roma

Tuna Roma
Will put you in a coma
Sitting there
Like folks from Oklahoma

So get a large bowl
Dump in these ingredients
2 cans of Tuna, spaghetti sauce, and cooked pasta
Stir with a big spoon
And do the Chacha
Sprinkle some mozzarella cheese
It will make you weak in the knees.

Cover with waxed paper
Nuke for 4 minutes
Uncover the top
And throw the rest of the cheese in it.
Let it sit covered
As the cheese melt
Uh, Hope you like the Beatles
You’re about to scream help.

Something for the kids and lone performers. I like to introduce you to Tuna Roma

Have you ever did something that impress somebody?
That would be Jenny, my new Slam Poetry coach. We have started training for October Sac Poetry Slam. She training me to write and perform powerful performance poems and improve my ranking with competition.  I definitely wanted this to happen and I am going to follow her lead to get it.  I have known Jen for almost a year now. We met at Joe Montoya’s poetry unplugged at Luna’s cafe. She has watched me perform spoken word poetry and participate in the Sac Slam every third friday for a year. In her words,  I am an inspiring poet who has potential but I am still an amateur.

MC Side

Birth of an Emcee

My first love for hip-hop was Emceeing. I enjoyed writing poems and proses in school about nature and personal things. But, I was a 10 years old kid with cable. MTV was one of the most watched channels in my house.  While I enjoyed watching Brit-pop and Heavy Metal, Hip-Hop started to appear.  I found vocalist who did not sing but spoke in rhymes. I thought it was the greatest thing!
